Join us as we reflect on the past year in the Wage and Employment Dynamics Project. 2024 was full of exciting developments. We joined other experts across the field in exciting discussions at world class conferences, contributed some compelling research to the academic literature, and welcomed lots of new additions to the community who have begun exploring the latest WED datasets.

- Last year, we were pleased to announce that the ASHE-PAYE and ASHE-Self Assessment datasets were research-ready, and were included as flagship datasets in the ADR UK Fellowship call
- We published a range of documentation for researcher use

Engagement
- Supported the delivery of an ASHE-Census training event. with a focus on practical usage, including reasons for using the data, the contents of the dataset, and information about its construction.
- Held two joint Academic and Government Stakeholder Group Meetings
- Met with Public Engagement Strategy Group members to better understand their research needs
- Held a HMRC webinar to provide an overview of project progress, and to discuss research priorities
- We met with HM Treasury and Department for Business and Trade to ensure research priorities were aligned with policy priorities
What’s next?
New Datasets:
- This year, we got the exciting news that our funding application WED 4- the next stage of the project which links the ASHE to the Census 2021, and refreshes the ASHE-Census 2011 linkage with new methodology- was accepted. This will provide policy and research communities with a powerful longitudinal ASHE-Census dataset
- We are also now entering the next phase of the project which will link the ASHE to Migrant Worker Scan data, enabling new and vital insights into migrant workers’ experiences of the labour market
Where can you find us?
- The ESRC Southwest Regional Engagement Event on 21st January 2025 offers the opportunity to engage with people who are actively researching the “World of Work”, with the afternoon dedicated to ADR UK data and focused research.
- The Inaugural Earnings Symposium will take place 26th March 2025. This event will bring together academics looking to work with the ASHE, and similar datasets, to facilitate discussions about research possibilities and dataset affordances . Submit your extended abstract by 27th January 2025 to present your research!
