Community Care Employment Journeys

Ramakrishnan presented his work at the Research Symposium held by the WED team in November 2023. Ramakrishnan is using the ASHE-Census 2011 dataset to explore the employment journeys of people working in the community care sector. You can watch his presentation here.

Personal bio

I am working as part of the NINE DTP under my supervisors Prof. Peter McMeekin, Faculty of Health Sciences, Northumbria University and Prof. John Wildman, Department of Economics, Newcastle University Business School. 

Prior to this, I worked as a Research Associate on an ESRC-UKRI-ICSSR funded Research Project on Fintech Startup Ecosystems in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Along side this, I also pursued my Research Internship at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode on the project, ” Saving and Investment Behaviour of Indian Households pre and post covid era” under the supervision of Prof. Rudra Sensarma.

I did my MA in Economics( with a specialisation in Financial Economics) from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, India.

My research interests span across various fields of economics and econometrics including health, development, labour, energy, political, financial and applied microeconomics and econometrics.

I have presented a Research paper on the Fintech Startup Clusters in India at the Biennial International Conference on Entrepreneurship at the Entrepreneurship Development institute of India, Ahmedabad, India.

I have a research publication on the Analysis of the Sustainability of India’s Current Account Deficit in the Journal of International Economics.
