Are you a researcher passionate about making a tangible difference in society? Do you thrive on delving into vast datasets to uncover transformative insights? If so, we have exciting news for you!

ADR UK is gearing up to launch an excellent funding opportunity that could catapult your research career to new heights. We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of applications for Research Fellowships using the incredibly versatile ASHE-Census 2011 and ASHE-PAYE datasets.

So, what exactly are these datasets, and why are they such a game-changer for researchers?

Unprecedented Insights and Transformative Impact

These WED datasets are a treasure trove of information, meticulously curated to provide unparalleled insights into society at a population level. Spanning an array of critical themes – from the migration, to low pay, to pensions and more – these datasets empower researchers to address pressing policy questions and drive decisions that directly enhance people’s lives.

The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) linked to the 2011 Census data has already unlocked a wealth of valuable information spanning various important research themes, You can find insights the WED team has already uncovered from these valuable datasets, along with the ongoing fellowship and PhD research projects here.

And now for the first time, the ASHE-Pay As You Earn (PAYE) linkage will be available for researchers to exploit. This will allow for an exploration of how volatile individual earnings can be between weeks, months and years.

Access to Valuable Resources

Housed within the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Secure Research Service and other trusted research environments under the ADR UK umbrella, these datasets offer a secure and robust platform for researchers to explore, analyse, and extract invaluable insights. With access to such rich resources, the possibilities for ground-breaking research are vast.

Paving the Way for Change

The Research Fellowships, spanning a generous 18-month duration, provide researchers with the financial backing needed to embark on ambitious projects aimed at demonstrating the real-world policy impact of these datasets. With grants of up to £200,000 per annum (full economic cost) on offer, this funding opportunity equips researchers with the support they need to bring their visionary research endeavors to fruition.
